Jacksons holiday

We've been meaning to do it for a while, but finally it was time to for Jackson to have his first holiday away without Mummy and Daddy. We went up to Manny and Grubbys (Jacksons name for Barry and Veritys), on the Saturday morning, and Dave, Blake and myself came home on Sunday night, and Jackson stayed until Wednesday! I must say it was a quiet trip home on Sunday, Dave wore his sunglasses the whole way, and a few tears were shed (by Mummy and Daddy). Jackson had a ball - he helped prune the olives, picked and ate fresh strawberries, went to the beach, and played up and down the huge deck and in the Chapel. He had Manny crumble and icecream every night and was spoilt rotten. It was very quiet at home with just one child, I didn't know what to do with myself, but it was lovely to have him home. Here are some pictures of the boys from our weekend away.

Blakes first teeth

At 4.5 months old, after a bit of unsettledness, (which did include a rushed 4am trip to Starship :)), out popped two teeth! Can just see them in this picture

Highchair

Blake has started solids - just a small amount, and so far he is enjoying them! Part of the fun though is sitting up in the highchair. Here is a picture of Blake the first time he sat in the highchair, and also Jackson the first time he sat in the same chair, pretty much the same age. The only difference was, when Jackson had his very first meal of solids, he grabbed the spoon and wanted to feed himself!

The youngest Bean

On Friday mornings we go to Jumping Beans. Jackson has been going since he was 17 weeks old, and Rachel who runs the class reguarly tells everyone that he is the youngest baby they have ever had. A couple of weeks ago, when Blake was 16 weeks, he became the youngest Bean ever. Here are some pics, he is a star!

Playing ball

Jackson loves playing ball - every morning now we go outside after breakfast and hang out a load of washing (and we have a lot of washing!), Jackson helps of course, and takes all his many balls outside and we end up playing with the balls for a while too. Catching, kicking, and Jackson does a great drop kick! He has a new 2011 Rugby World Cup ball, which he calls Rugby World Cup, which sits on the end of his bed every night. Sometimes Blake joins us and sits in his chair and watches, and sometimes Jacksons Teddy sits on the steps and watches too. Jackson also takes his lawnmower and cuts the lawn, he is such a big help!

Jackson big help

Jackson is a big help! He follows me around the house with his chair and helps with everything. Most days we do some sort of cooking which he particuarly enjoys. He tells me 'Jackson big help'

All Blacks Supporters

The weather is getting better and we have been getting out for walks and checking out all of the excitement leading up to the Rugby World Cup - with our own All Blacks flags for the buggy of course!

Wynyard Quarter winters day out

It was a rainy, windy, but occasionally sunny Auckland day today, so we didn't let that stop us going for a trip to the new development on the Auckland viaduct. After Jacksons swimming lesson, we went straight to the Viaduct as we were meeting Tara at 11.30. The weather didn't stop others either, it was packed! We found a good place to park up and have coffees and fluffys and photos - see pictures of me and the boys attached! They were both bundled up in their winter woollies. We then went to the Fishmarket and had fish and chips for lunch which was superb. Soon we had two very tired boys, so it was time to head home for afternoon naps.

belly laughs

Thursdays are my time with Blake as Jackson is with our Nanny in the mornings. I have spent this morning throwing a little yellow ball up and down and making funny noises....
Yesterday Jackson, Blake and I were sitting on our bed having a ball skills session (aka a silly game I made up that we can all play together without too much chaos). Anyway, Jackson was momentarily on the floor picking up the ball he had thrown very high, and I had a few moments with Blake and I was throwing the little red ball in front of him and making noises and faces - anyway, amidst all that he did his first real laugh. It was the cutest belly laugh, and the more I threw the ball and made faces, the more he laughed. Until Jackson was back on the bed again.
So, today, I have been trying to get another laugh!

sleep

We all woke at 7am on Monday morning!! Quite a big deal, as it was the longest that Blake has slept from 7pm to 7am (I would officially call that sleeping through!), and it was Jacksons first night in his cot without the sides, without dramas! A big sigh of relief on that one! Early days yet on both counts ... more to come on that I am sure
